SOURCE: go2phil.com member "roadslut" November 15, 2004 "well as promised i visited the new bar called BAR HOPPIN last night to give it the ROADSLUT CHRISTENING and description in one word PERFECT.. arrived about 10pm with fodski..duke and ffub. upon walking in the door u just know u r going to have a good time here..u r immediately greeted by the entire bar by the way of a loud HELLOOOOOOOOOOOOO. the bar reminds me of the roadhouse in so many ways its uncanny..the bar and dancefloor(stage) are combined, taking advantage of space..the stage holds about 8-10 girls at a time which in my opinion is enough and all the girls including the waitress are professionaly dressed out in uniforms that are very different and quite attractive..many bars should consider the uniform thing instead of the dreary bikini swimwear thats apparent everywhere.. there is the largest vidoe/television in angeles which is actualy a projection unit with the large sceen area almost taking up an entire wall..the screen creates an illusion of continual movement happening in the bar which i feel is a good thing.. now this bar has a volume level for the music which i feel is just right..lets admit it, some bars have DJs that realy have no idea and belt out music at such a level that u have to scream at the top of voice to the waitresses to place ur order..however BAR HOPPIN has got it right..and there r only a few bars that realy understand what their business is about.. lets face it, how the hell are we supposed to if the girl we want to by a drink for or to EWR her is going to be capatable for us for the night if u cant even speak to her.. the CRs in bar hoppin are not only new and clean, but well appointed and large which is great. at on end of the bar stategically placed is a pool table that doesnt impede or pertude into the entertainment area of the bar.. the seating here is absoulutely perfect..(as in the roadhouse),, it doesnt matter where u sit u have a entire view of the bar and the dancers with no obstacles..the seating at the bar is comfortable and the seats are far enough apart that u dont feel crowded and the seating in the back of the bar is actually raised up about 2 feet so ur view is not obstructed by waitresess walking back and forth and the lounge type seating is really comfortable.. regarding the waitresses.. i only had one ask me for a LD so other than her there was no pressure or girls swamping u for drinks..the 3 mamasans in here reign supreme and keep a firm hand all goings on.. if i have one complaint is that there is too many waitresses for a bar of this size.. on the whole i was very impressed and can now understand why it to so long to get this bar opened as i can tell u that i feel a lot of thought and homework has gone into constructing this bar.. i was that impressed that now ive actually found another bar that is on par with the roadhouse and i will not hesitate to start spending a couple of nights a week here.. this bar is a MUST VISIT.. a big thumbs up" |

SOURCE: go2phil.com December 2004 Nightlife Newsletter "Bar review - Bar Hoppin' opened it's doors whilst I was away in England. This latest edition to the Balibago nightlife scene, had been mentioned here before. Don from Suckers took over the lease from what was 'Big Boys' bar. The building has been completely renovated with Bar Hoppin' taking pride of place for Don. Another bar has been built there as well....More on that later. Bar Hoppin is a similar size to Don's other bar, Suckers. With Bar Hoppin, probably a fraction bigger. It certainly feels a little bigger anyway. There is also a familiar red & white colour scheme right down to the uniforms, which I have to say looked good. The music is relayed to a giant screen and is effectively done. There is a pool table, and ample seating at the bar area, with stage. Also bench seating at the back. This is definitely one of the better looking and designed new bars to open in quite sometime. For those that are unfamiliar with the location. It is down the street that runs off Private Dancer, and a few yards down from Butterfly Rocks. The line up at the bar has had a few mixed reviews that I have read on the Internet. However they looked in the main, damn fine too me. I believe Don has really outdone himself here, and I was impressed with just about everything connected with the bar. Of course it can be said, that again it's another bar with a slight location problem. However, it's not that bad to find or get to. With a new bar due to open any time now next door there will be reason enough to seek it out and visit frequently for me. Personally speaking I found the bar to be very cozy and enjoyable. I'd recommend it highly to add to any bar hop. After all Don named it after just that....Bar Hoppin! More opening night pictures from Bar Hoppin' |
